More than 20 robotics teams competed Saturday in the Southern Suburbs League's FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Tournament hosted by Kankakee High School. Teams from the high schools of Kankakee, Bradley-Bourbonnais, Herscher and Paxton-Buckley-Loda were part of the day's activities.

As part of the competition, teams were challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format. Local teams took home awards from Saturday's competition, including a first-place Finalist Alliance for the BBCHS Ironclad, first-place Connect Award for the Herscher TiGears, third-place Connect Award for Kankakee's Mechanized Kays-OS.
